I am Dr. Amanda “Mandi” Kelso, the founder of Aspire Women's Health. My career in physical therapy started in 2006 as a physical therapist assistant; while in school I knew that wasn't enough for my "inner nerd" and that I had to continue on to earn my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. This would allow me to create programs to assist my patients and clients live their best life. Through my 15 years as a clinician, I have been blessed to work in various settings (pediatrics, outpatient orthopedics, acute care, skilled nursing facilities, home care) until I found the area that brings me true joy: WOMEN'S HEALTH!
I have a passion for helping women regain control of their life, and minimize the stress and burden of pelvic floor dysfunction. It LIGHTS MY SOUL ON FIRE to be able to empower women to learn the techniques needed to minimize or eliminate pain, decrease bowel and bladder leaks, and improve their sexual health. My goal is to give each women the necessary tools to feel strong, sexy and accomplished while improving function for her every day activities. I want to give women the power and education to independently manage the obstacles that are preventing them from living their best life. I enjoy collaborating with other members of each woman's health care team to ensure that she receives a well-rounded approach to health, fitness and wellness.
I am a huge advocate for teaching women how to utilize their body in safe ways while continuing to do all the things that they love. It is important to me to provide education on safe techniques with every movement, be it an exercise, a hobby, or normal day to day activities. I don't believe in taking things away that are causing pain, but instead, finding ways to improve symptoms to allow each women to continue doing all the things that bring her happiness!
One of my biggest passions is helping pregnant and postpartum women in whatever capacity she needs - this may be reducing pain, improving mobility, establishing a safe exercise program or returning to athletics. One of my favorite things is to assess new mama's to ensure that they feel safe to move after delivery, are recovering well both physically and mentally, and have a good understanding of the common postpartum symptoms to be aware of and know when to seek help.
I take great pride in the care that I provide. This includes treatment of a variety of orthopedic conditions including low back pain, hip pain, and sacroiliac (SI) dysfunction, which all play are large role in the correct function of the pelvic floor. I love learning, and have taken several additional post graduate courses which have allowed me to specialize in my areas of passion including urinary and bowel conditions, sexual pain and dysfunction, and pregnancy and postpartum conditions.
